Computer emergency? Sometimes people call us in a panic. Something disturbing has popped up on their screen, they are worried it may be a virus, and not sure what to do next.

Remember that it is impossible for a virus or hacker use your computer while it is turned off. When in doubt, turn the computer off. This will give you the time needed to reach out to a trusted techie and determine the next step, without having to worry that you are racing against the clock.
